I agree. The politics and thoughts expressed by those in the AI biz and their enablers sound just like Mussolini's fascists. It is all "futurism, like it or not". It may well prove easier to flow in that direction rather than democracy, which will be harder to shape and direct. The US is already shaping up to be a Fascist Italy (invading Africa for territory) or Nazi Germany (invading Eastern Europe and Russia for lebensraum).

We forget that it was the industrial might of the USA, plus the manpower and vast terrain of Russia, which eventually defeated the Axis powers. There are no equivalent democratic or socialist powers to oppose the US and the AI corporations and their militaristic aspirations. China may oppose the US, but it isn't a democracy. Europe would likely succumb as it nearly did in WWII before help arrived.
